On November 19, The Township Commissioners voted 10-4 and passed the ordinance to phase-in a ban of gas blowers.
Our job as citizens of Lower Merion is now to make the retirement of gas-powered blowers a reality — and make that happen as soon as possible.
We’ll keep our information online. Once people find out just how harmful these machines are to our health and environment, retirements, or bans as they’re sometiomes called, will increase in number.
We are now shifting our focus to making the transition work for everyone. Banning gas blowers is still a necessity, but making educating people about battery-powered landscaping is the ultimate goal, starting with leaf blowers. There’s a lot of work ahead.
Maybe you’re one of those people who just can’t stand these toxic, rampaging machines. If you’re interested in participating in a movement to encourage the use of battery blowers and rakes, send us a note.
Don’t be afraid of electric.
