On November 19, The Township Commissioners passed an ordinance to phase out the use of gas blowers. We’re the first town in Pennsylvsnis to enact such a ban. In 2026, we won’t be hearing or smelling hem during the summer months.
Our job as citizens of Lower Merion is now to make the promised retirement of gas-powered blowers a reality — and make that happen as soon as possible.
We are now shifting our focus to making the inevitable transition work for everyone. Retiring gas blowers is still a necessity, but educating people about battery-powered landscaping is the ultimate goal, starting with leaf blowers. There’s a lot of work ahead.
Maybe you’re one of those people who just can’t stand these toxic, rampaging machines. If you’re interested in participating in a movement to encourage the use of battery blowers and rakes, send us a note.
Don’t be afraid of electric.
